Tempo varies drastically form one golfer to the next.  This makes perfect sense because each person is different.  Each person has a different body type and a different swing.  So how can I help you find your perfect tempo?  Well I will let you in one a little secret that I found out a year or so ago.

Every single professional on the tour has the exact same tempo.  Amazing right?!  A man and his team timed every golfers backswing vs their downswing and the results were astounding.  Every golfer had 3 parts backswing and one part downswing.

If a golfer was having a bad day and saying that his tempo was off, this ratio of backswing to downswing was also off.

But how does this help you?  Well, obviously this is the magic tempo.  If you can get this tempo, you will notice huge gains in your golfing ability.

Next time you are on the range try this:  When you start your backswing count to three.  On three you should hit the top of your backswing and begin the downswing.  When you hit four you should be making contact with the ball.  If you master this, you will become a much better golfer.

How fast you count does not really matter because it is only about the ratio, not the speed of the ratio.  Just make sure your counting speed is consistent.

Think this is ridiculous and will never work? Let me know what you think below!  (and it does work!)

The Stack and Tilt

The stack and tilt golf swing is a revolutionary, new way to swing a club.  The guys over at Medicus decided it was time to find a swing so that everyone can play consistent and good golf.  So they went to the Pros.

They noticed that each pro had their own swing.  So they noted everything that all of the pros had in common.  This is the bare bones for their swing.

They focus on teaching these bare bones before they teach anything else.  Then when you have mastered these perfect fundamentals, they begin teaching you the meat of the golf swing.

I thought my swing was pretty decent, but it turned out I was lacking in the fundamentals.  I was an 18 handicap before, so it was not like I was some duffer, but they still found my fundamentals were not fully developed.

So I basically started over and used their system, and it worked!  I am now a true fan of the stack and tilt golf swing.  I urge all of you to check it out if you haven’t.  There is a lot of good information about it here.

Good luck with it.  I hope you actually do try it out and have as much success with the stack and tilt as I have had.  Let me know if you have any questions about it and I will try to help you as best I can.  Also if you want to buy the DVDs which I highly suggest, Amazon has the cheapest set, here is a link.

Here is the sequel to my first post How to Hit a Driver 300 Yards.  In this post, I will give you three more tips to hitting huge drives! So let’s start it off.

1. Rotate your hips faster than normal. This will definitely make you hit the ball farther.  The problem is doing it.  I use Tiger Wood’s trick for this one.  During your downswing, “snap” your knee straight.  This will make your hips rotate super fast and make your arms swing even faster.  This little sucker can add 20 yards to your drives!

2. Grip up  higher. Basically this makes your club longer.  And like getting a longer club, this adds centrifugal force.  Basically the longers your club, the faster your clubhead will move.

3. Loosen your grip and make sure you have tension in your arms. By allowing your grip to be loose and your arms to be tensionless, you will allow for a massive whipping action at the bottom of your swing.  This is the main difference between amateurs and pros.  So I would say this is the number one tip for hitting farther.  If you get nothing else from these two articles, please just try this one.

So now you know all there is to know about hitting over 300 yards.  Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Here are three easy tips to increase your distance, and possible cross the 300 marker!

1. One very simple way to get extra distance is to hit a draw. Now that might be a challenge in itself, I suppose.  But if you have a draw in your bag, pull it out when you need an extra 20 yards.

Here is a quick guide on hitting a draw:  Aim more to the right than you normally would.  On your downswing, pull with your left arm and hit the inside of the ball.  While striking the ball make sure you rotate your hands more than normal.

So there you go, hit a draw to add some yards.

2. Hit the ball in the middle of the clubface.  Clubfaces are designed and engineered to be hit in the middle of the clubface.  If you get very good at hitting the center of the clubface, I gaurentee your distances will increase by at least 10 yards.  This is a lot easier said than done, but a good tip nonetheless.

3. Get a longer club. Have you ever seen the long drive guys?  Their clubs are almost as tall as I am.  This is no accident.  The extra length of the club allows for much much more centrifugal force.  Now this can take away accuracy if you aren’t careful.  But this is not “How to Hit a Driver 300 Yards in the Fairway.”

So there are two tips that can possibly add 30-40 yards to your drives.  I will be making more posts about this soon.  Good luck!

Cure Your Slice

Many, many golfer tend to hit huge slices, at least every once in a while. Many of the golf tips you will see are designed to help players correct common swing flaws, but if your biggest problem is a cut, you probably need a little more specific guidance. If you ever stood over the ball and while setting up your thought was perfect, but then followed it up with a big, ugly slice, you know exactly how frustrating it can be to hit slices. The good news is that you can correct your golf swing with some simple golf tips. When your golf swing has been corrected your slices will disappear.

When you are trying to fix your golf swing, look at your swing plane first. The swing plane is the path of your club. It starts at the beginning of your swing and carried out in an arc until you finish your swing. If your swing plane is off center will probably hit a slice. We must remember that you have different clubs for a reason, and you should not use the same swing plane with every club in your bag. For example, when you’re hitting your driver, your swing plane should not be as vertical.

If you want to improve your golf swing to eliminate slicing, take a look at your grip. If the grip is too weak your hand won’t rotate enough, causing the ball to slice. If the grip is too strong, you will often times snap hook the ball. Find and use a grip that’s just right – allowing you to hit the ball straight.

Here’s another golf tips that will take end the slice in your game: remember to watch your balance in your golf swing. Think about your swing and how and where to end. Many players know that they can judge the quality of his or her golf swing depending upon where it ends. Ask yourself if you finish your swing with confidence or are you off balance? Do you tend to swing too hard? While practicing you should pretend to freeze after your follow through, this will get you in the right mind set of holding your finish.

Take time to check your alignment. Do not forget that your whole body is involved in your golf swing. Too many amateur golfers spend too much time working with the upper body. While this is important, you will also find that you need to think about your legs and feet. Take a look down and make sure your body is aligned with the place they want your ball to go.

Golf tips to help you improve your golf swing are easy to find, and indeed at times seem to be everywhere. If you cut the ball, look for golf tips to help you get rid of that annoying banana ball!

General Golf Tips

Professional golfers sure know how to make their hits long and straight. Being able to hit a golf ball with a driver 300 yards or more is quite an accomplishment in itself. Though you may never be as good as a professional golfer, here are some tips to help you enjoy the game a bit more:

• Make sure you keep your head down throughout the swing.  Stay watching the ball until the ball is long gone, then let your body move your head up rather than you just start looking.  This will allow for repeatable golf swings.

• Do not stop your swing after impact.  The golf swing must have a proper follow through for maximum distance and accuracy.  Try to focus on getting your clubhead around the back of your head and your weight transferred to your left foot.  IF you can do this, you will be much more stable in your golf swing.

• Make a very wide backswing.  This will help you reduce your fade and add power as well as accuracy.

• Improve the rotation, focusing on keeping his chin on your shoulder during the backswing. This will help keep your body aligned and help generate more power, producing more accurate and more powerful shots each time.

• The rotation should be done well. You should feel all coiled up at the top of your backswing.  Your chin should just be touching your left shoulder.  This will alow you to uncoil with amazing power.

Nothing can immediately improve your golf swing, and spending time on the range is the only way to improve drastically. You may never be able to drive the ball 300 yards, as do the professionals, but you can significantly increase the length and precision of your shots with the right tools. Here are some tips from golf’s essential that you can read and become familiar with being able to have the golf swing like a pro:

* Make sure your setup is sound, and your feet are square to the target

• The feet should be adjusted for the goal.

If you wish to hit a draw, aim your feet to the right.  If you wish to hit a fade, aim four feet to the left.  This can vary from 5 to 45 degrees.

* Make sure your clubhead is still pointing at the target you want your ball to end up.

• The more angle you change of your feet, the more hook or fade will be implemented on your shot.

• Next, swing the club regularly with a sweeping motion.

* Your shot should start where your feet are aimed and end up where your clubface was aimed.  Try doing this around trees for extra fun!

To run a good climb steadily as the shoulders turn, the arms should swing upward and inward on the arch. When the golf club reaches the top of the climb, the end should be pointing your way. Make sure your posture is maintained throughout the entire climb.

As you begin the descent, the right arm should immediately begin to fix up the slope. This creates the hit rate. The right shoulder should be retained for as long as possible.
